The 5th edition of the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) is set to gather more than 7,000 tourism industry professionals at the Palacio de Congresos in Seville from October 23 to 25, 2024.

This major event, which focuses on technological advancements in tourism, will showcase the latest innovations and solutions driving the sector toward a smarter, more sustainable future.

According to a press release, TIS 2024 will address the “most urgent challenges” faced by the tourism industry, offering a roadmap for continued growth and evolution.

Over 200 companies will be exhibiting cutting-edge solutions in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, Cybersecurity, Business Intelligence, data analytics, 5G connectivity, and augmented and virtual reality.

Arturo Bernal, the Andalusian Regional Minister for Tourism, emphasized the importance of technology in the tourism sector, stating that “economic, environmental, and social sustainability, as well as successful management of our tourism model, requires innovation and technology.”

Bernal noted that TIS will highlight these crucial elements in its program, underscoring the need for the digitalization of tourism strategies.

Seville’s Delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, praised the TIS event, saying it strengthens the city’s reputation as a global leader in tourism innovation.

She also emphasized Seville’s commitment to creating more sustainable, accessible, and connected tourism experiences.

TIS director Silvia Avilés described the summit as more than just a platform for innovation, calling it a space to build the future of tourism.

“Our goal is to provide tools that allow destinations to anticipate the demands of the modern traveler, optimize resources, and enhance the visitor experience,” Avilés said.

The three-day congress will feature around 180 sessions with over 400 experts, addressing critical trends and challenges in the industry.

As China is the ‘Guest Country’ for TIS 2024, notable speakers will include Trip.com’s General Manager Boon Sian Chai, Geotourist CEO Shaon Talukder, and travel journalist Ash Bhardwaj.

Other key speakers include Eduardo Santander from the European Travel Commission, Julia Simpson from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), Inge Huijbrechts of Radisson Hotel Group, and representatives from leading companies like MSC Cruises, Hilton Hotels, LATAM Airlines, TUI, and TripAdvisor.

TIS 2024 promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the future of the tourism industry.
